Don't have an iPad or an Apple TV? Don't fret. Anna Jo is working on a way to do the same thing using Chromecast and the Chromebooks. I'm sure she'll keep you posted on her success!
by Jennifer DeMartino For much of the year, I had only one iPad. With this one device, coupled with an AppleTV, I was (and still am) able to have a lot of interaction in my classroom. I could read and edit stories, teach math lessons, and give pop quizzes:) Best of all, I was not tethered to the front of the classroom like I am with my Promethean Board/laptop setup. Using Apple AirPlay and a little app called Show Me, I was able to set my iPad in front of a student as I taught a lesson. The student could draw in the answers with their finger right from their desk instead of waiting for them to come to the front, find the pen, remember what they wanted to write, go back check their paper, you get the idea...it saves time. And students stayed engaged because they never knew who would get the iPad or what I would ask them to do with it. We did a lot of work with our number bonds in this way.

Show me is a great app that I have used in the music classroom at my old school when we were 1:1 and students brought their iPads to music. In addition, I've found that notability works great as note taking/whiteboard tool because of the subject capability and ability to upload documents th teacher.

I love this idea for using one iPad. Great for those of us who don't have class sets.
